This version has bittersweet chocolate chips because they taste complex and delicious, and dark chocolate has some health benefits. But feel free to swap them out for an equal amount of your favorite bite-size candy or chocolate chips.

Try making white chocolate cranberry bites, oatmeal raisin bites, or even try using chocolate protein powder and cocoa powder for double-chocolate-chip bites.

These bites have more protein than most energy-bite recipes floating around out there, meaning they will have more staying-power for you throughout your day.

Ingredients:

- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup peanut butter (or nut butter of choice)
- 1 cup (or 4 scoops) vanilla protein powder
- 1/3 cup 50%-reduced-calorie pancake syrup (often called "lite syrup")
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 2 tbsp bittersweet chocolate chips


Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, mix your oats with protein powder until combined. Add your peanut butter, pancake syrup, and maple syrup and mix well. Fold through your mix ins of choice.

2. Lightly wet your hands (or spray them with cooking spray). Divide into 5 equal hunks of dough, as best you can. Out of each hunk of dough, roll 5 bites.

3. Place bites on a plate and refrigerate until firm, and store in a sealable container in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks. Store them in an airtight ziplock in the freezer for up to 6 months.
