Why We Struggle

So many of us feel like our lives are being lived for us. Because of the way we grew up, feeling like outsiders, we’ve developed ways to make ourselves feel loved and accepted. We put tons of energy into being awesome at work, and trying to keep up with the social demands of life.

But there’s a catch. As adults, we now feel like:

  • the needs of our jobs, families, or friend group make it impossible for us to take care of ourselves

  • we’re constantly one step away from social-exhaustion and work burn-out

  • we need to keep everyone else happy with us, first and foremost

  • we’re coping with only one mechanism: food

And when we try to become “healthier” and lose weight (which takes time, energy, boundaries, and self-prioritization), we feel frustration because we notice how much we prioritize others over ourselves. And we notice JUST HOW CLOSE we are to a total burnout or breakdown. (Hint: this leads to more coping with food)..

We also feel like we’re alone in this fight, because we tend to keep our worries and vulnerabilites locked away inside. But there are so many people like you!

So, we’re in this cycle where we ignore our own needs, and then we meet those needs later through excess food. Because of these factors, many of us have “started and stopped” our weight-loss journeys so many times that we’ve lost trust in ourselves. We forget about our inherent capability to grow and change. I want to help you rekindle this knowledge.

I also want to dismantle the diet-industry narrative that we have to cut things out of our lives in order to be healthy. We are told that we’ll have to sacrifice all our favorite foods if we want to reach a lower body weight. Nothing could be further from the truth! I want to free women from that “health guilt” and find joy and a happier relationship with their favorite foods. I want to support you in becoming healthier in that process, and most importantly, I want you to have all the benefits of weight-loss you desire.
