So many of us feel like our lives are being lived for us. Because of the way we grew up, feeling like outsiders, we’ve developed ways to make ourselves feel loved and accepted. We put tons of energy into being awesome at work, and trying to keep up with the social demands of life.
But there’s a catch. As adults, we now feel like:
the needs of our jobs, families, or friend group make it impossible for us to take care of ourselves
we’re constantly one step away from social-exhaustion and work burn-out
we need to keep everyone else happy with us, first and foremost
And when we try to become “healthier” and lose weight (which takes time, energy, boundaries, and self-prioritization), we feel frustration because we notice how much we prioritize others over ourselves. And we notice JUST HOW CLOSE we are to a total burnout or breakdown.
We also have some more unique barriers. We grew up different, often even bullied in middle and high school. We often felt ostracized from others, especially women who were comfortable with themselves, their social life, and even comfortable with femininity. This makes the whole “health, diet, gym” world feel totally foreign, or even hostile.
We also feel like we’re alone in this fight. But there are so many people like you!
So, we’re in this cycle where we ignore our own needs, and we also feel totally “othered” by the whole world of feminine-coded diet/health/gym culture. Because of these factors, many of us have “started and stopped” our health journeys so many times that we’ve lost trust in ourselves. We forget about our inherent capability to grow and change. I want to help you rekindle this knowledge.
I also want to dismantle the diet-industry narrative that we have to cut things out of our lives in order to be healthy. We are told that we’ll have to sacrifice all our favorite foods if we want to reach a lower body weight. Nothing could be further from the truth! I want to free nerdy introverted women from that “health guilt” and find joy and a happier relationship with their favorite foods. I want to support you in becoming healthier in that process, and most importantly, never losing what it means to be uniquely and geekily you.
